Who Is Nina?

Nina Daniels is a comedian, producer, host, content creator, writer and actress originally from Long Island, NY. Where most musical comedians play your standard guitar, piano, accordion, violin, or ukulele, Nina sets herself apart from the pack with her sidekick, Gerry, the cello. She’s wow’d the internet audiences with her absorbing act featuring stand-up, rapping and singing. Nina’s viral video, “My Man Is a Jewmaican” has been featured on Funny or Die, Whohaha, Youtube and Instagram. Director/Actress/Writer Elizabeth Banks tweeted, “The Jewmaican Jam You Didn't Know You Needed…Jewmaican cello jam. You read that right.” Nina’s TV appearances include Maron IFC, Shameless, FOX Punchline and The Last O.G. with Method Man and Tracy Morgan. She can also be seen doing stand-up at your favorite theaters and comedy clubs across the country. Diamond (“Stick Fly”) here uses a distinctive dramatic voice, wry, realistic and meta-theatrical.  After a cello passage from Jordan (Nina Daniels), an elegantly gowned sideliner, “Gift Horse” follows Ruth (Ajarae Coleman), an upbeat African American woman eager to share her hard-won passage to maturity with us.

Two years before she appeared in the same professional orbit of Kim Wayans – one of her artistic idols – rising alternative comedienne/actress Nina Daniels gave the poor woman a hell of a fright.

Nina Daniels is terrific as Jordan, warm and sassy in her one-on-ones with the audience, and she plays a mean cello to boot.  If The Gift Horse hasn’t been seen since its 2002 world premiere, it’s perhaps because how many fine dramatic actresses are also versed in the cello—and happen to be the right age and race as well? Chen and Kamine indeed struck pay dirt when they found Daniels.

If we tried to list all the things Nina Daniels is good at, we’d be here all day. But let’s just take a look at a tiny little slice of her accomplishments: she’s a hilarious stand-up comedian, a talented cellist, a phenomenal actor, and she can rap too.
