How to Improve your Relationship with Food and Plant Based Meats

How to Improve your Relationship with Food and Plant Based Meats

In this episode of Models Diet, Nina discusses how to develop a healthy relationship with food. She speaks about letting hunger cues guide you, not judging foods as either good or bad, and not letting others dictate your food choices, and about ways to know if we have a healthy relationship with food. In this Models Diet segment we will be discussing plant based meats. Segment starts @ 15:31

Having a healthy relationship with food is essential for our overall well being. It is not just about fueling our bodies but also about pleasure, traditions, socialization, and more. Our relationship with food is complex and can be difficult to navigate.

One indication of a healthy relationship with food is eating when hungry and stopping when full. We should also give ourselves permission to eat the foods we enjoy without obsessing over calories or the scale, and be mindful of our bodies and how we eat. With a little bit of self-awareness and self-care, we can have a healthy relationship with food.

A helpful tip for you to improve your relationship with food is to modify recipes you love. You can still indulge in delicious meals without compromising any health goals by making small changes and making your favorite foods healthier and more nutritious. There are so many resources going around on the internet that you can use to find ideas of healthy meals and modifications of, literally, any dish. You can turn to podcasts like this one, to social media platforms, search engines, YouTube, etc.

This will help you avoid meal burnout and still enjoy delicious meals. Meal planning can also help us stay on track with your eating. Tune in to the episode to find out more about this topic!

Eating whole foods that are unprocessed and unrefined, meaning they are as close to their natural state as possible. This means they are free of added preservatives, artificial colors, and other chemicals, but packed with vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients.

Models Diet Segment: Plant Based Meats

As an ex-vegan, Nina has a lot to say about this topic. From good experiences with “fake” meats that actually taste like the real thing, to her point of view of the trendiest brands of plant based meats and their, not so healthy, ingredients. As well as pros and cons of consuming this type of food.

Tesla Delivery Day Must Haves

Any one who knows me knows I love cutting edge of technology. I was so intrigued by the fully electric vehicle I had to have one. My first electric car was the Fiat 500e that only had an 85 mile range and the range anxiety was REAL. I was an early adapter and they were throwing so many tax rebates and incentives the car was darn near free. Due to some changes in my personal life I went back to a gas car and have regretted it ever since. It’s not just the environment but it’s everything about driving an electric vehicle that was sorely missed. The speed, the silence, and not paying for overpriced gas. To name a few. Fast forward to two weeks ago when my Tesla Model Y arrived. Not only am I excited to be back in the EV family…but Tesla is better than I could have imagined.  My Tessie was supposed to arrive in January/February but she came early. If you ordered a Tesla and think you have all of this time…hahaha. If I could do it all over again I would have been more prepared when it came time to take delivery. Here are a couple of things to have in place before your car arrives.

1. Weather Mats

All Weather Mats – especially if you live on the east coast where is rains and snows a lot. These are a must and have them ready when you pick up your vehicle. There are the mats I bought and I love them. Not only do they cover the front and back seats but they also cover the frunk and trunk and the storage space under the trunk.

2. Ceramic Coat Seats – My Tessie has white seats. That’s right and I love it. But I’m no fool. My lovely white seats are protected with a ceramic coat. Now I had mine done professionally but you can do it yourself and many people do. I haven’t used this product, Gyeon Leather Shield, but it’s super popular and there a re a ton of youtube videos with reviews and How To’s.

3. Mud Flaps – Are a necessity to protect your paint especially if experience a lot of snow. I’m finally purchasing the mud  flaps but you really want to have those installed as soon as your car is delivered.

4. Home Charging Station – I bought the Tesla Wall Charger directly from Tesla because I didn’t want to use an adapter every time I needed to charge my car. But There are many options out there but here are some tips. Your local power company may have a discount for certain home chargers so I would check with them first if you want to save some $$$. Here is the link to for the Tesla Wall Charger https://shop.tesla.com/product/wall-connector. But the Tesla service center had them for sale so I was able to grab one immediately sometimes the product shipped directly from Tesla can take weeks to arrive. I already had an appointment for installation set and was scrambling to find a wall charger. FYI…I ‘m gonna warn you the price to install a home charger can be expensive.

Models Diet Podcast

Welcome to  Model’s Diet Podcast with Nina Daniels. Model’s Diet is a one stop shop lifestyle podcast highlighting the hottest trends in food, fashion and fitness. I’m a comedian, musician, actress, producer, entrepreneur, soon-to-be-wife, homeowner, lover of rose gold, NY sports fanatic, tech junkie, and homemaker originally from Long Island, NY. My original comedy includes music with my side-kick Gerry, the cello.

I started Models Diet Podcast because I’m obsessed with dieting, food, and how people live their lives. By people I mean you! How you live, where you live, what you eat, who you wear, how you wear it …all of it stirs my curiosity and influences how I live my life. I wanted to have open and honest conversations about dieting, home organizing, fashion, relationships, life-work balance, traveling, technology, and so much more. I don’t do this alone Fallon Jethroe is the Executive Producer and my chill af business partner. She makes the magic happen behind the scenes. We knew we wanted to work together but didn’t know in what capacity. Fallon was so intrigued (or frightened) by some of my unorthodox approaches to how I live my life suggested we do a podcast together.

Ceramic Coat Seats- My Tessie has white seats. That’s right and I love it. But I’m no fool. My lovely white seats are protected with a ceramic coat. An Ode to Sneakerheads

An Ode to Sneakerheads

*Sneakerhead: a person who collects and trades sneakers as a hobby, and who typically is knowledgeable about the history of sneakers.

I used to always think investing in high end sneakers was a complete waste of money. I would be out for a morning run and never understood why people were lined up outside of sneaker stores like Cool Kicks LA (@coolkicksla) waiting for the latest hottest drops. The process has become more sophisticated over time with apps like Confirm and SNKRS  allowing collectors to play the odds from the comfort of their home.

Sneakerheads have changed in terms of gender, age, and race. In the past sneakerheads were associated with urban African-American males. Now we see young and old, black and white, educated and the uneducated hustling cop to the latest and greatest.

My opinion about sneakers changed when I started living with one. My man is not exactly what I would’ve considered the demographic of a sneakerhead. He is an extremely successful professional who dresses rather conservative for work. But when the weekend hits you can find him standing in his closet trying to choose between Yeezy’s, Jordans, New Balance, Puma, and who knows what else. We had a pair of barely worn Yeezy – Beluga 350 V2 Reflective Originals that he sold for more than what he paid for them. It was then that I realized that the sneaker game is big business.

I’m new to the world of sneakerdom but there are some who have many many years in the game like @kingoftrainers, Franklin Boateng, if you want descriptions of some of the newest releases and video reviews, he’s your guy. If you want to get funky and cop some custom kicks then @theshoesurgeon not only can create a unique pair of customized sneakers but they also teach workshops so you can learn how to do it yourself.

Some women heavy in the sneaker @SherlinaNym’s fire sneaker collection has its own room, @TeeLeeper because she is a woman whose love for Nike is infectious, and @rebeccahyldahl who highlights some of the best sneakers for women around the world.

The sneaker business is like the stock market. I’m not joking. This is a global business. They literally have a website called StockX which is a marketplace where you can bid, buy and sell the hottest sneakers. “Real-time prices that reflect the current demand.” I like the stock market so this where I start to understand the magnitude and power of the sneaker.

Of course, I have acquired a couple of my own. We are native New Yorkers so the standard, for me, is always going to be a pair of low top all white “Uptowns” aka Air Force 1’s.

My man doesn’t care for the all white version but I love them. I have them in black high tops and white low tops. But the all whites are a staple. I guess you can say I’m a convert and you can expect to see a lot more posts about our latest sneaker acquisitions.

Thank you to all of the sneakerheads around the world for showing me the light.

Your local power company may have a discount for certain home chargers so I would check with them first if you want to save some $. I already had an appointment for installation set and was scrambling to find a wall charger. FYI…I ‘m gonna warn you the price to install a home charger can be expensive.

If you have black rims this is a must.  Tesla vehicles are especially prone to rim damage. Tesla rims are flush to the tires and  level with the curve which makes them susceptible to curb rash. Don’t learn this the hard way, get Rim Guards and install them asap. Get a 5% discount with the code NDRimSavers.
